Here is a copy-and-paste from the email I wrote last night upon returning:
Hi friends, so I wanted to update you on what happened. Thanks for your concern. Um... I had a cut, tried to clean it, passed out. Didn't realize it til later but I hit my head when I fainted. I had a really horrible hour or so on the bathroom floor, sweating, vomiting and passing out again before I was able to drag myself to my bed and find my phone. I called my mom because I didn't know what to do (no health insurance) and then hung up because I was passing out. When I called her back she had called the ambulance to come get me. The EMTs cleaned up my wounds but I refused the ambulance (politely) because of the lack of insurance. Lay in a painful daze. Roommate came home, helped out. Called around, got some medical advice. Realized I had a concussion. Got a friend to take me to the hospital. Got a tetanus shot for wound in leg, 5 stitches, CT scan to check for brain injury. Scan came back okay, even the bill wasn't that bad. My nice friend Delvis stayed with me the whole time and tried to keep me in happy spirtis. I had a really hard time getting her jokes. My brain is so slow. It's the stupidest I have ever felt. Anyway, hopefully tomorrow I will feel better. Just read about concussions and the headaches and nausea and dizziness can last for weeks. Let's hope not. GOodnight, Abby
