Fall hit Boulder yesterday. I love Fall. I love cold nights and foggy mornings. I love waking up while the sun starts to come up and pulling my nose under warm blankets. But here in Colorado, I have found a new, unexpected reason to love Fall: my drive to work.
I drive along a small highway on my short 10-minute drive, and through my windshield I get to see the mountain range behind Boulder. Yesterday the clouds had come over the mountain and concealed the highest peaks. They were so close it felt as if I could just lean out the car window and reach up and I would touch them. The smaller mountains had clouds that seemed to be hiding just behind the top, settling into the valleys. All the leaves have gone yellow, brown, orange and red but some trees are still stubbornly remaining green. This morning was completely different, clear, bright, and sunny. Today when I looked out at the mountains, the highest peaks were pure white. Snow from the top of the fourteeners through Nederland, a nearby (but higher altitude) town.
Amazing. Made me think of you all, of going back to St. Mary's. And it means Tokar will be back in the states soon. I love Fall.

It would be really neat to see some photos! Sounds magical and spectacular.
What a lovely reflection! I love fall too, and your description of the serene setting is so delightful... for a moment it took me away from my cramped office and review of escrow account contracts. I would love to see photos of foliage.
Also, Gwyn, please never stop saying m'dear. It's adorable.
In other news, I drink bourbon now. Like, obsessively.
