December/January plans

Hey all,
What's happening over the "break" (for those of us in academic related endeavors)? Can we all discuss our schedules so as to starting planning activities of the merry season? Erica, what are your bridal shower plans looking like?
And what about New Years Eve? Do we want to do Boulder? Or, Erica, if you shower is going to be over the break, maybe it would make more sense for it to be in MD/DC?
My two cents (you knew this was coming!): If we're on for a bridal shower over the holidays and you have yet to solidify any dates, some time closer to rather than later than Christmas/New Years would be awesome for this chica's schedule. What are other people's availabilities? (How much time off from work Nicky, Becca, and Liz, how much time off from school Erin, Gwyn, me?)
Rotholz: Will have ample time off from school, but am trying to get a job--grim economic outlook here, folks--and hope to spend most of the break working. Depending on when the bridal shower is I may board Jack and fly rather than driving, and if it is not going to be happening I think I'd vote for NYE in Boulder and not come home for Christmas.
How about ...YOU? :)
love, Abby

Hey girlie girls-

It seems like Christmas is a good time to do bridal stuff because you all have the ability to be around, whereas mid-late Spring during mid-terms, finals, etc may be an impossibility. As I mentioned, you guys are some of the folks I care most about being there, and accommodating your schedules so as many of you can be there as possible is far more important to me than the substance of the event. Especially after being gone for awhile, I just want to spend time with you guys.

That being said, if for some reason Christmas is not a good time, let me know.

Possible dates for things are as follows. If you look at the calendar, you will notice that Jesus's birth and the new year rather presumptuously occupy much of the weekend time. These appear to be the only viable dates.

Bachelorette Party: December 18, 23, 30

Shower: January 2- this is basically the ONLY weekend day that isn't the day after the proposed bachelorette party, christmas eve, christmas day NYE, new years day, or the day after christmas. the 26th seems like it might be a little difficult for people though perhaps not impossible.

Becca Z has exams until the 18th, so that's why the 17th is out.

I think Boulder for NYE would be super fun and I'm willing to move the shower to some other time if that's what works for everyone.

So why don't you guys let me know what works for you and then I'll communicate with a few other out of staters.

Hi folks,

I'm going to be in Maryland from the 15th of December or so until the 6th of January (or maybe even a little later.) I could be talked into NYE in Boulder, I'd just need to know enough in advance to get a ticket.

I'll be in town and available for any Bachelorette Party/Shower dates that you choose Erica!

Hey everyone! I will definitely be in town for Xmas and was planning on flying back the 3rd, but I haven't bought tickets yet so that is slightly flexible. I'm open for NYE in Boulder, but feel no pressure as I know that would mean 2 flights for some people. I move that we do everything in DC/MD this year just so's to simplify. :) Although selfishly I would love to steal you all away from your families and make you hang out HERE with ME!!!

Hellooooo,

I will graduate on December 11, 2010. After that, I do not know if I will have a job right away or if I will need to wait until I pass boards to start. Its possible (if all goes to plan) that I will work with a temporary license at the place of my last internship, MCPS. In this case, I will have the school system's "winter break" off. I will also have free weekends to play.

I am happy to do any of Erica's suggested dates for bachelorette and the 2nd works for bridal shower. They all sound great to me... As for NYE, I love the idea of going to Boulder, but I would settle for the MD/DC/VA area as well since I will have just spent 6 months working for no pay and, as usual, will be very broke! Also, with the shower working best on January 2nd, its seems best to be in town for NYE.

Good job responding rapidly, everyone! We are so adult, professional, efficient, la la la...
Sounds like we've got a consensus on DC for NYE.
My vote for Bachelorette party is the 30th, second choice is the 23rd, third choice is the 18th. It might suck for Becca Z to have to be concurrently preoccupied with exam stuff and bachelorette stuff, yeah? What's her preference?
That being said, I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU GUYS AGAIN, AND EN MASSE! Geez, it's going to be such a good reward for a semester of hard work. :)
Love, love, super love hugs and kisses,
Abby

Our last day of fall exams are Dec. 10, and from what I can make out of the exam schedule, mine should all end by the 8th (but that could be way wrong). And then Winter term starts on Jan. 3. So I guess, for me, the 18th or 30th will work for the bachelorette party. And if the shower is the 2nd, I can either fly out late that night, or miss a day of classes. Since they're language classes and not discussion, it's important that I'm there, but it's not, like, ridiculous to miss them. I can always memorize vocab outside of class. So basically, I'm good if everything ends by the 2nd. I will throw in one more vote for the 30th bachelorette party, though, because if you do it before Christmas, I'll have to go to DC, then head to NC and then back to DC. But it's doable if it needs to be done that way.

Hi, it's early in the morning.....sleeeeppyyyyy. I vote for the 18th or 30th. And for the 2nd for shower. I have to be back at work on Monday the 3rd. And let's definitely have NYE together somewhere on the 31st. DC sounds like it will be easiest for all, but I am still open to Boulder since I will be coming from OKie and esp. since I might want to visit Colorado anyways. But it sounds much easier for all to just do it in DC.

Addendum: it might be crazy to have festivities on the 30th and also 31st? no??? in which case, I would lean more towards the 18th. And also, I am open to the 23rd, although I will be going to OKie either on that day or on the 24th morning. I will keep you posted if it looks like the 23rd is more feasible for everyone. My xmas vacation is from the 23rd-3rd. so short! i miss college
