SO I got the official word today, I'm leaving for Mendoza March 15, 2010.
I can't believe they bought the wine pitch. It's going to be a delicious, drunk eight months.
Queridas, I'm going to miss you immensely. I can't wait to celebrate with you in a few short days.

What wine pitch? Explain! It looks so beautiful there!!
Woooooww. Looks Heavenly. I so wish I could visit you there. How exciting for you!!
OH yeah--- Coincidentally, Trevor and I drank the Pascual Toso Cabernet Sauvignon that Becca gave him last night... from Maipu Vineyards - Mendoza, Argentina!
Oh wow! Erica, that's wonderful!!! Congratulations! I'm gonna echo Abby here though with, "What's the wine pitch?!?"
HOORAY!!! I'm coming too!
Maybe I can get back from India around March 8th and we can party like pink ladies until the 15th! sound good?
"the wine pitch" is what I wrote much of my fulbright project on. In a rather meandering essay, I discussed either implementing EmpoWord the language learning project I piloted when I was in AmeriCorps and (depending on the community I would eventually be placed in) I also talked about my experience working in wine and my desire to investigate and research the blossoming Argentine wine culture. There has never been a Fulbrighter in Mendoza before, so they must have bought my wine schpiel. Hurrah! The harder question is who knows what EmpoWord is???
Well, "EmpoWord" sounds like "Empowered," so I get that there is a double meaning and some catchiness there, but what "Empo" means and how the name was derived I could not tell ya. (Perhaps "Empo" is a word in Spanish, and the "Word" part relates to language acquisition?)
You win!! It's just a pun on the word "empowered" but ending in "word" because it was a language learning project. Way to dig deeper, kinda wish I had given you more to work with. Nice job! I can tell you more about the project, and perhaps forward you a copy-- featuring cover design art by the QB's very own NN Tilley Manulik.
Haha. Empoword. Good times.
