Hey all,
Sorry I missed you while I was down in D.C. all y'all. It was a kind of stressful Sunday for me, and I didn't make it down to my parents house until almost 11:30pm. Around the time I was going to leave, I stopped by Cornell to pick up my laptop - only to find that it had grown legs or wings or SOMETHING and migrated to not-in-my-possession ever again. Blegh. The worst bit was that all of my research was on said laptop, with no backups, so I'll be playing catch up for the next month of so trying to recreate all of my examples and papers. Awesome.
Okay... So that was the bad stuff. The good stuff - already got another laptop. My parents decided that, because at the moment I am way to broke to afford another laptop myself, they would be willing to buy one for me. Score. And copious quantities of gratitude, because if they hadn't done that I would be ten steps FURTHER away from finishing my research, writing up papers, and graduating.
Well, I would talk about the new boy right now, but he's sitting across from me so that seems like a bad plan. Cya all soon!

Oh man, that sucks! It's amazing to me that in an academic environment people could be so blind as to know how damage they could cause someone by stealing a laptop!!!
Excited to hear all your new news when you're not sitting next to the boy :)
